Guess what? This is Fruit Bats' first show in Stockholm ever. They've been around for more than ten years in different constellations, always based around band leader Eric D. Johnson though. Originally hailing from Chicago the band signed with Sub Pop in 2002. Eric relocated to Seattle two years later taking a break from the band to join fellow label mates Vetiver and The Shins. Fruit Bats indie folk pop seemed to delight the crowd of Debaser this night. They were one out of four (!) acts and they stood out as the best and most talented one. Enjoy some real stuff folks.

"They succeed particularly because they don’t fall into the trap of telling the same stories as their forefathers. Johnson has always had a distinct lyrical voice—part cultural reference, part hopeless romanticism, all personal experience—and he continues to peel away layers and get at the heart of what he wants to say."
