The Flow Festival site tells us that "French Films began as the solo project of Johannes Leppänen, and soon evolved into a five-piece band after the early demos gathered an unusual amount of interest from fans and music business big wigs alike". They started out as late as 2010 and signed to local Finnish label GAEA. Enjoy a great mix of dark and dreamy, surfrock inspired, bunch of songs. There's certainly a talent to preserve here!
"French Films is a five-piece indie rock band from Finland. Their music is often described as a mixture of sunny surf rock and new wave. The group got started in 2010 by putting couple of home demos on their myspace page, which led to largely positive feedback and interest all over the world. In November 2010 the band released their first EP, Golden Sea, through Gaea Records and is currently working on their debut album, which is about to come out in fall 2011. Known for their furious live performances, the band has so far been touring around Europe and is now planning on visiting US, UK and Japan as well in the end of 2011 / beginning of 2012."
